That being said, I still highly recommend a visit and think you will definitely enjoy it! Feel free to PM if you have any other questions or want more feedback on the experience. I’m sure this will evolve for KPMG over time as more people get a chance to try it out but right now it just still gives off a very commercialized vibe. With Deloitte University being in Texas, they were able to style the facility as an “accounting dude ranch” and it overall feels a little more homey even for a business trip. I also found it a little weird that they played a video on the shuttle ride over explaining how they’ve spent years trying to cultivate the perfect experience so that professionals could learn and socialize in the environment without ever needing to leave the property. I may be biased as I went during a soft opening while there were still COVID restrictions, but the large open spaces and bright lights can make it feel unnerving if there aren’t many people around in the evening. My biggest gripe with the Lakehouse compared to other training experiences (although I think all do convey this energy in some way) is that with it being a very modern, airy, and KPMG-centric facility, the design scheme can feel somewhat sterile and at times uncomfortable. For example, the dining options are more expansive and less congested at KPMG because they’re arranged in more of a “food court” format as opposed to buffets, and the property is more intuitive and quickly navigated because it’s arranged in a tight U shape compared to Deloitte which is essentially a 1/2 mile straightaway. The overall experience is generally fairly similar between both KPMG and Deloitte’s facilities (free food/Starbucks, your own hotel room, easy travel arrangements, high tech classrooms) but it’s obvious that someone who had been to Deloitte University was consulted on how to make the Lakehouse incrementally better. They offer a great training curriculum in person when you’re down there and it’s a fantastic networking opportunity between geographic offices to be able to connect in the classrooms and over drinks at The Landing (the “sports bar” for evening events). Even understanding that you’re not going to spend all of your working time at Lakehouse, it’s an extremely valuable training experience and a major perk of selecting KPMG as a firm. Flow RatesI’ve visited Lakehouse while employed with KPMG but recruited across the Big 4 and visited Deloitte University before signing on. High Flow drains are designed to be connected to a 3″ waste line (not standard) and will have an average capacity of 21 GPM. These variables can vary drastically from installation to installation, and because of this, it is difficult to have an absolute flow rate.Īdding additional 2” outlets and tying them to a 3” waste line will significantly increase the flow rate. The answers to the above questions fall into the equation of determining the proper type of drain, outlets necessary, and location of the drain. Will the flow restrictors be removed from the fixtures?.Will the fixtures operate at the local plumbing code’s legal gallons per minute?. shower heads, hand shower, body sprays, etc.?)
